Membership

Eligibility

All performers on musical instruments of any kind, as well as vocalists, dancers, support crew, roadies and sound crew, music teachers or others performing services of any kind, in any field of music, are eligible for membership in Local 353. Every member of Local 353 is also a member of the AFM, with all the rights and privileges of that membership anywhere in the United States and Canada. Application for membership in the AFM is to be made to the Local in which the applicant’s residence is maintained. This provision of the Bylaws provides greater convenience for member access to benefits and services and promotes better support for each individual member from the Local. Upon making application to the Local 353 Office, the applicant will receive an information packet that further details the Local 353 operations, schedules, benefits and services.

Membership Fees & Dues

Thousands of professional musicians rely on the AFM as their “business partner” in this business of music. For the relatively small annual cost of dues that may be paid quarterly, members are provided with benefits and services that are just not available to others. The Local 353 Membership Card is the musician’s passport to those benefits and services. To obtain that passport, there are one-time Initiation Fees: $65 to the AFM; $25 to Local 353. Annual membership dues may be paid quarterly, so to get started the total cost is:

Federation Initiation Fee $65

Local 353 Initiation Fee $25

2008 Membership Dues for one quarter $48.50

Total $138.50

You’re invited to explore an affiliation with us today, and we’ll be delighted to talk with you about it! Give the Office a call and ask for a Membership Application, (562) 431-7334. Better yet, come in to the Office, meet the staff, and check us out. Either way, you’ll be glad you did! (Please note that our Office hours are limited to 1:00 – 5:00 PM Tuesday thru Friday - the Office is staffed with musicians and we’re out gigging the rest of the time! Call us any time; however, and we’ll get back to you just as soon as we can.)
